Understanding Domain Rating

What is Domain Rating (DR)?

Domain Rating is a 0–100 logarithmic score that estimates the strength of a website's backlink profile. Higher DR generally means more, and more authoritative, sites link to you. It's an off-page signal — a useful benchmark, but not a Google ranking factor on its own.

How is this calculated?

The score comes from Ahrefs' Domain Rating, surfaced here through their free public data. We cache each result for about a week (DR moves slowly), so you always get a recent value without hammering the source.

Is a high DR enough to rank?

No. DR measures link authority, but rankings also depend on on-page relevance, content quality, freshness, and search intent. That's where ContentVitals comes in — it audits the on-page side that DR can't see.
